In the small, quiet town of Lyubimov, strange murders of young women occur one after another, forcing the investigator for particularly important cases, Kira Karelina, to suspect the actions of a maniac. But Konstantin Kholmogorov, a Moscow psychotherapist who knows the method of regressive hypnosis, who came to his small homeland and accidentally became involved in the investigation, puts forward his own version of what is happening.
